“Content Management” and “CMS” are buzzwords that often get thrown around without reference or meaning. Like many other terms (see “SEO”) in our industry, they aren’t properly used by web designers.
Content Management is a very important part of who we are. I reckon’ we’re pretty darn good at it, too.
See, there are two levels of Content Management. The first level is standard out-of-the-box Content Management. WordPress, the most popular & successful Content Management System (CMS) of all-time, offers a base-level of Content Management “out of the box”. A standard non-customized WordPress website allows the web admin (our clients) to manage static content within their website. That almost always means text & pictures on the pages.
However, we recognize that our clients have a much deeper need for Content Management. In almost all cases our clients could use additional ways to manage the content of their website.
Take Gorilla Capital, for example. These guys are one of our favorite and longest-tenured clients. They’re doing BIG THINGS over at Gorilla Headquarters and we’re so proud to call them a client of ours. Gorilla Capital’s Marketing Manager wanted to be able to manage many elements on their homepage. These elements fall outside of the traditional WordPress CMS, meaning that they’d have to have us make updates to these certain elements.
We just solved this problem for them. Our brilliant programming team has built custom tools within WordPress that now allow Gorilla Capital to edit all of their homepage content without ever needing our assistance! Best yet- we made it simple & easy!
